The international spirit of Rotary is perceived more in moments of exchange between clubs in other countries.
Interclub with RC Amersham (UK)
We had an evening of true cordiality and rotary fellowship last Thursday in the club with the friends of RC Amersham (UK) and the representation of the RC Bergamo West.
All together we met at the Golf Club of the Hills of Bergamo to celebrate the English friends who came to visit Italy in these days.
Even if Amersham's friends wanted to sing, for our joy and surprise, a typical song from Bergamo, the official language was English.
The cordiality between our President Marco ROSSINI and President David BEEN (and also the linguistic understanding) have contributed to generating a festive and joyful atmosphere among all the parties at the interclub. And this was immediately understood at the time of the aperitif outdoors where the English guests were very interested in having news about their upcoming visits to Como and Verona. Cities that they particularly care for both cultural-literary and historical ties. The praises were then even enthusiastic when they started talking about Bergamo and the "Romanesque".
We have discovered a very cohesive and cordial Rotary Club, full of desire to know Italy and, why not, Italians too.
The highlight of the evening was when, before the dessert was served, we had it when Amersham's friends gathered in chorus and sang "Noter de Berghem". A typical song of the Bergamo spirit. We were very pleased because they have shown that they have grasped exactly the soul of Bergamo and its land.
THANKS AMERSHAM!
The evening then continued with the exchange of gifts and farewell speeches made by the respective Presidents.
The two Presidents, holding the hammer together, played the bell and closed the beautiful convivial.
The friends of RC Amersham lived the day before an intense day with the members of the RC Bergamo West who have done their utmost to illustrate the wonders of our Romanesque.
Here is the chronicle of this day.

"Interclub with RC Amersham" of Buckinghamshire County, England 1260 District of Rotary International
"Nóter de Bèrghem, de Bèrghem de sura, at the fork ghe ol ol pirù ......".
With the notes of this popular dialectal song from Bergamo, performed in a surprisingly flawless manner, a chorus formed by the Rotarians of the English Club of Amersham has sympathetically wanted to thank us for the reception received from our club during the convivial interclub dinner we organized for them in San Tomè. The convivial was preceded by the afternoon visit, set for them by our Alberto Barzanò also in his capacity as president of the European Romanesque Library, of the architectural and artistic pearls that the territory of the Almenno offers, with particular attention to Romani a visit to the Lurani Cernuschi farm.
In a brief ceremony of welcoming guests, opened with national anthems of the United Kingdom and Italian and which preceded the convivial dinner, the President Antonella Poletti de Chaurand addressed words of welcome to the guests. The President of the English club, Mr. David Bevan, has in turn provided some information about the town of Amersham, just under 20,000 inhabitants: located in Buckinghamshire, in the heart of the beautiful hill area of the Chiltern Hills, about 40 km north of London, once an agricultural territory, is today attracted by the London metropolis to which the inhabitants gravitate for
work. The Amersham club, founded in 1946, currently has about forty members, most of whom, with spouses in tow, took part in the visit to the Bergamo region, forming a large group of over 40 people. The program of the trip will continue with the visit of the upper town, Lake Como and Verona over the next four days. After the exchange of the respective guides and a tribute, present attended the dinner tasting among other things the now famous casoncelli bergamaschi, commented by Alberto along with other specialties of the menu, and other local products typical that English guests have greatly appreciated and praised-
to. A very pleasant and interesting convivial also because our members, almost all able to entertain guests in English, have been able to dialogue with them exchanging news and information not only on Rotarian themes, gastronomy and tourism but also on current political and of the respective countries.
